Tasmania is alive with food and wine festivals throughout the summer months, ranging from the massive annual Taste of Tasmania festival on the Hobart waterfront to small regional shows highlighting local produce. Taste, held in and around Princes Wharf No. 1, runs from just after Christmas to New Year, coinciding with the arrival of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race fleet. In the north, the annual three-day Festivale food and wine event held each February also features international-class live entertainment, while the vignerons of the north head to Hobart each year for the annual Taste of the Tamar wine tastings – usually held in July. Smaller festivals in wine regions include the Richmond Village Colonial Fair in the Coal River Valley and the Taste of the Huon at the Ranelagh Showgrounds in the Huon Valley, both held each March.
