Wilmot is a small rural township located in a mountainous region about 40 minutes south-west of Devonport and is the last stop before Cradle Mountain. The town was settled in the 1890s and is rich in pioneering history. Today, Wilmot is known for its cheese and butter production and also for potato farming. Need a stop before the 'mountain'? Why not try the Old Wilmot Bakehouse or look out over Lake Barrington from the Lake Barrington Garden Cafe (open from October to April). Lake Barrington is the site of a world standard rowing course and is also popular for canoeing and trout fishing.
